FERGUSON

That whole situation that happened in Ferguson, Missouri in 2014 still bothers me to this day.
It was a tragic situation and could have been prevented if everyone involved had  done things differently.

First off, I am an amateur investigator. After watching  CNN for four days back in August of 2014, I had gathered information, thought about it, analyzed, and then concluded. I had pieced everything together. I proved and disproved theories to learn the truth of what happened. The only thing that was unclear to me was what had happened near the end which I later learned about.

When the police had stopped Michael Brown, Mr. Brown should have complied instead of fighting the police. If he had complied, he would still be alive. He had made the wrong and bad decisions. He let his emotions and fear of going to jail to control him and his actions.

It is evident that Mr. Brown was assaulting police officer Darren Wilson in the squad car and I do believe that Mr. Brown was trying to grab his gun. When this situation somehow had continued out into the street, I do believe there was a point in time when Mr. Brown had put up his hands up into the air. But at some point Mr. Brown had put his hands back down, stopped complying and charged in a threatening way towards officer Darren Wilson. COMPLY!

Now the one weakness that I think that  most of law enforcement has is their lack of simple effective unarmed hand-to-hand combat knowledge. They seem to be to quick to use their guns against unarmed subjects. They panic because of their weak and lack of unarmed hand-to-hand  combat skills.

I had seen the photograph of the red marks on Darren Wilson’s face caused by Mr. Brown. They were not that serious, I have been punched harder than that. Mr. Brown was 18 years old. He was young and didn’t know how to fight very well. He wasn’t an amateur boxer or was a martial artist in any way. If Darren Wilson knew what I know about basic effective unarmed hand-to-hand combat knowledge, then he would not have had to shoot Mr. Brown. Darren could have had
Mr. Brown on the ground in seconds writhing in agony, but alive.

Wasn’t there a second police officer there too? Then if they both knew some basic hand-to-hand combat, then that situation would have been no problem. No gun would have needed to be used.

But Darren Wilson was fearful and probably was intimidated by Mr. Brown’s huge size. It’s true that Mr. Brown was huge, but his lack of fighting skills and ability didn’t really make him that much of a danger. If Darren had those basic combat skills, he would not have had to shoot Mr. Brown. Mr. Brown would still be alive and would have hopefully learned his lesson and Darren would not have thrown his life away.

There wouldn’t have been rioting, looting, and burning in Ferguson. There would still have been protests, but then Ferguson wouldn’t have been the spark of the firestorm that spread across the nation.

WALTER SCOTT

I am still enraged about what happened to Walter Scott. As I have already mentioned, the problem is that Walter Scott didn’t comply. By running and then getting into a scuffle with the police officer (as told by a witness) had caused Mr. Scott’s wrong and bad decisions and wrong actions to cause the officer to do the same.

The problem is that right before the officer shot Mr. Scott in the back, is that the officer didn’t change gears or mode. When he was in the scuffle with Mr. Scott, he went into survival mode but didn’t mentally shift back to recognize that the threat was gone. I personally would do what I ever I had to do to keep from shooting someone. It appears that a small number of  police officers don’t have much restraint due to the lack of mental discipline.  This is not the norm.

A lesson to be learned from this is to comply! Don’t give the police officers a reason to shoot.

TAMIR RICE

I am so pissed off about this. There was a 12 year old boy with a toy gun and he was pointing it at people. The police were called. When they arrived, Tamir pointed his toy gun at them. I’m sure the police told him to drop his gun, but he didn’t. The police officers ended up shooting and killing him.

If I were a police officer I would have handled that situation differently. First off, I would have noticed that he was a very young child. I would know that young children have toy guns. Children do children things by pointing them at the wrong people. Of all people, children make the most wrong decisions and do the worst actions.

There were no reports of any shots being fired and people weren’t shot and laying on the ground. Plus, there were no shots being fired off at the time the police were there. The police didn’t put that together. I would not have parked my police car so close to Tamir. If he had a real gun, that is not a very strategic thing to do.

I would have parked my police car further away, and communicated with the child through the cruiser’s speaker system to put the gun down and get on the ground. I would have given that child every chance in the world to comply. I would know that since he was a young child that most likely he had a toy gun.

I would take the chance of being shot at while hiding outside and behind of the police cruiser before I would open fire on a child. That police car would  produce very good cover. The police officers didn’t plan and think things through very well. What is wrong with people?! They are sometimes  quick to take a life when they need to and can show restraint.

There wasn’t any shots from the child’s gun going off. That would tell me that chances are he was holding a fake gun. That would give me time to call for a k-9 officer. The sound of the dog barking may have scared the child to put his gun down. If he still didn’t put the gun down, then  the dog could be released. The child would have been bitten but wouldn’t have died. A child is going to behave and act like a child, that should be expected. Chances are a 12 year old child isn’t going to have a real gun. That situation could have been resolved differently.

It’s absolutely necessary that parents teach their children and especially young children to comply with law enforcement and not to point their toy guns at other people they don't know or police officers. They may then save their child’s life in the future.

LAQUAN MCDONALD

I am still outraged about what happened to Laquan. He was walking away from the police still holding a knife. An officer arrived on the scene and shot him 16 times. I shouted more expletives at the television. This is a perfect example of the necessity to comply. Laquan’s wrong decision for not complying caused another police officer to make the wrong and bad decision to shoot Laquan. As I stated earlier, all humans make mistakes.

The police should have waited to either get a taser. Or, with my training I would have assigned each of the four officers a limb, both arms and legs. They each could have grabbed a limb and would have taken him down in seconds. Lack of training.

I hope the police officer who shot Laquan gets life in prison. Please COMPLY! Stop getting killed!
