OREGON STANDOFF

This involved the standoff of Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. Robert Finicum had one point been confronted by law enforcement outside of his vehicle. He had first put his hands up and then put them down and began reaching  inside of his jacket. It appeared to law enforcement that he was reaching for a gun, Mr. Finicum was then shot and killed.

Once again I can’t stress enough how important it is to comply with law enforcement. Mr. Finicum was in a stressful situation and wasn’t thinking clearly. He let his emotions control his actions and he wasn’t thinking logically either. He was greatly outnumbered by law enforcement but he still didn’t comply. As I have written, it is better to go to jail and eventually get out than it is to go to the grave  (and never get out) .

Comply and stop getting killed!

KIM JONG-UN

This is another oppressive leader who inflicts suffering and death on his own people. He is also without honor and needs to be taken out of power. Once again a country with a backbone needs to standup to him. They also need to standup or make a deal with China so that China stops giving support to North Korea. But both the government of China and the government of North Korea both have the same oppressive idiology.

DISTRACTED and DRUNK DRIVING

There are a lot of people who lack common sense. Prove me wrong!

First off, people shouldn’t get drunk and get behind the wheel of a car. They should instead designate a sober driver or have plans on catching a cab to the bar and a cab back from the bar at the end of the night. It is far better to catch a cab and pay that relatively cheap fare than it is paying the court costs of thousands of dollars, complying with strict restrictions including losing the privilege of being able to drive, and spending time in jail if caught by the police and convicted for a DWI or DUI.  Plan on catching a cab beforehand.

For those who text, surf the net, talk on the phone, put on makeup, eat, read a book, etc. while driving can cause serious accidents that can cause the death of one or more people. All it takes is a few seconds being distracted by a cell phone or anything else for something unexpected to happen where the distracted driver causes an accident.

Think ahead of time if it is really worth driving distracted by doing something else besides fully concentrating on the road. Whatever it may be can wait until the destination is reached. It isn’t worth killing one or more people, being charged with Vehicular Homicide and spending many years in prison (don’t drop the soap!) and basically throwing away their life. Is being distracted by something or concentrating on something else besides driving worth the prison time and guilt?

It isn’t honorable to drink and drive and/or to be distracted while driving because of the potential serious harm that can be inflicted on other innocent people.

Use brain! Think with logic and deductive reasoning.

WOMAN HIT BY A CAR

On February 2, 2016 during a massive snow storm in Minneapolis-Minnesota, a woman was crossing 8th and Hennepin Ave at the crosswalk and was hit and killed by car that turned into her.

This greatly saddens me. When she woke up that morning to go to work she never thought that day would be the day she would die and it would be her last day. No one knows when their time is going to come.

There is something called situational awareness. This is where a person is constantly looking around themselves to be aware of what is happening around them at all times. It is a good idea to use hearing to what is happening where they aren’t looking and using their hearing to gauge the direction and distance something is away from them, like a noisy car. Situational awareness is also absolutely necessary, especially now because of terrorist attacks happening.

Just because a pedestrian has the right away to cross the street doesn’t mean that a driver in a car is going to stop from hitting them. A lot of people are distracted by other things besides their driving. A lot of people drive drunk too. As I mentioned, a lot of people lack common sense. It is a good idea to be aware of drivers on the road and to look into the car’s front window to see if they are looking at the person who is going to or is crossing the street.

When I have the right of away and I notice someone has their turn signal in indicating where they are going to turn, I motion for them to go ahead and turn. It is just safer to do that. I don't trust people and their abilities that I don’t know. Plus, it is just a kind gesture so that they don’t have to wait for me to cross which would take longer than for them to turn and go on their way in their fast car. I also notice cars that are going to turn even when they don’t use their turn signal.

I was going to cross the street one time when I had the right away but I noticed the driver was looking elsewhere and waiting for an opportunity to turn. I immediately backed up on the curb and decided to wait for him to turn before I would cross the street. This saved me from getting hit by his car. He never looked to see if I was there
. Incompetence.

People have to be constantly aware of other drivers in car when walking across a street. There is a friend of mine who was crossing a street and a seventy something year old woman turned into him, hitting him very hard. It is fortunate that he wasn’t killed. No one can trust everyone on the road. They have to be constantly aware of what is happening around them when crossing the street so that they are not hit by a bad driver.

Someone can also use their hearing as a great warning sense because sound travels faster that any object moves. This is extremely helpful when someone is outside especially when it is the night time. If the nice lady who was hit and killed by a car had been looking around her  and using her hearing, she may have noticed that a noisy car was getting to near and she could have avoided being hit by the bad driver.

It is a good idea when walking down the street to use hearing to determine if anyone is walking behind someone. They should notice about how far behind someone else is and determine the speed of their pace. If it sounds like somebody is walking very fast or are running up behind someone, then that person should turn around and look to ensure they are not going to be robbed or attacked.

It is helpful to walk silently or pace one’s own footsteps in different time to the person who is walking behind them. After some training, it is possible to get an idea of how many people are walking behind someone. It is even possible to determine if they are male or female. Females usually wear shoes or boots that make a different sound than those worn by males.

ONLINE CHILD SAFETY

There was a story on a young teenage girl who met someone online on a social media site. They manipulated her into taking explicit pictures of herself by saying to her if she loved him that she would do it and send them to him. She ended up taking pictures of herself and sent them. He later used them to blackmail her by saying that he would show those pictures to everyone at her school. He managed to get her into meeting him and persuaded her to get into his car. He kidnaped her and ended up killer her. This was a terrible and heartbreaking event that shouldn’t have happened.

Parents need to talk to their children in more depth of what could happen if their child meets a stranger online. Parents should also tell their children not to be  persuaded to meet someone in person and to inform them so that this sort of tragedy doesn’t happen again.

It is not enough for a parent to tell their child to stop talking or texting with a suspicious person online, but they also need to there children of what terrible things has happened to others when they have snuck out of the house to meet that stranger in person. If any parents have read what I have written, then they should repeat what I have said to their child.

Parents should also relay to their children that if someone texts them to tell them to take explicit pictures of themselves to tell their parents. Parents then should go to law enforcement and show them those texts on their child’s phone. Lets all put a stop to online predators and protect the children.

EMERGENCY VEHICLES

I have stated a lot of humans lack common sense. Prove me wrong!

I had seen a segment on the news where there was an ambulance with a woman inside who had died because of other vehicles on the highway wouldn’t move and stop at the side of the highway. They wouldn’t allow the ambulance to pass them to get to the hospital faster. If they had pulled over, the woman’s life may have been saved.

When there are emergency vehicles on the road with their sirens blaring,  people in their vehicles need to pull over to the side of the road and allow them to pass. Courteous and common sense.

OSCAR PISTORIUS

When Oscar Pistorius came home and he thought there was an intruder in his bathroom, he grabbed his gun and shot about three shots thru his bathroom door killing his girlfriend.

First off, once he had fired just one shot, his girlfriend would have screamed at that point. If he truly loved her, he would have stopped shooting as soon as he would have heard his girlfriend’s screams. He knew she had a key to his dwelling and that she could have been the one in his bathroom. If he truly was concerned for her safety, he would have spoken through the bathroom door first to ensure that if the person in his bathroom was his girlfriend, then he wouldn’t have fired off shots. He had murdered her and I have no idea what his motive was for doing it.
He deserves either the death penalty or life in prison.

WOMEN’S EQUAL SALARY

Women should have equal salary that is the same for a man in the same position that does the same job and performs in it just as well. Women are as smart as men are. It just goes to show that it is still a male dominated society in most areas. This has been the same for 1000's of years with most if not all cultures.

When are humans going to evolve to point and realize that just because men are usually bigger and physically stronger than women are, doesn’t mean they are superior to women in any other way.
